What is First Tee – Augusta?

Simply put, First Tee – Augusta teaches positive life skills through the game of golf. We seamlessly integrate the game of golf with character-building.   We create learning experiences that help kids develop their inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that they can carry to everything they do.

How long has First Tee – Augusta been in existence?

First Tee – Augusta was established in April 2001, and is a local non-profit organization operated by FORE! Augusta Foundation.

Where is First Tee – Augusta located?

First Tee – Augusta is located at 3165 Damascus Road, Augusta, GA 30909.  Our facility is located adjacent to The Patch golf course and the Augusta Aquatics Center.

Where do participants play golf and practice?

All classes meet at First Tee – Augusta’s clubhouse at 3165 Damascus Road, Augusta, GA 30909.  Outside of class time, participants have golf course and driving range access at The Patch and The Loop golf courses which share the campus with First Tee – Augusta.

Who coaches the First Tee – Augusta golf & life skills classes?

All First Tee – Augusta golf and life skills classes are conducted by Lead and Assistant Coaches who have completed background screenings, child protection training and completed one or more of the four levels of First Tee Coaches Training.

Are fee scholarships available?

Yes. No student or group will be turned away based on their inability to pay.  Apply for a fee scholarship during the online registration process.  First Tee – Augusta prioritizes engaging youth from low to moderate-income communities, girls, underserved and underrepresented populations, students with disabilities and youth that might not have otherwise been exposed to the game and its positive values.

What ages can participate in First Tee – Augusta classes?

First Tee – Augusta enrolls students ages 7-18 are eligible to enroll in the First Tee – Augusta programs.

What type of life skills do participants learn in addition to golf skills?

First Tee – Augusta’s curriculum is based on First Tee’s Nine Core Values and Five Key Commitments while focusing on mastering golf fundamentals.

    Are golf and life skills classes grouped by age or skill?

    Golf and life skills classes are grouped by age and focus on the following:

    Age 7-9

      • Be active and have fun with peers in a safe and encouraging manner

      • Build inner strength and self-confidence

      • Learn to play golf

      • Focus on building relationships with other players while exploring the game of golf

    Age 10-11

      • Explore character concepts in active and collaborative ways that are valuable on and off the course

      • Develop golf skills and enthusiasm for the game

      • Support positive Game Changing behaviors in fun and meaningful ways

    Age 12-13

      • Explore both golf skills and characters commitments while having fun with peers

      • Provide opportunities to demonstrate mastery and growth in golf skills and abilities

      • Support growth and development of early adolescents

    Age 14+

      • Build character and support personal development

      • Develop additional golf skills and abilities

      • Look toward their future and plan their own paths

      • Evaluate, reflect, and apply their understanding of life and golf skills to new situations on and off the course

    How do you register for classes?

    Registration is held online only at FirstTeeAugusta.org.  Classes fill quickly. We recommend setting up an online account prior to registration day to save time during the registration process.
